In a national survey conducted by the Center for Digital Government, Snohomish county placed third for being a local government that adequately uses digital solutions, practices good cybersecurity, and serves constituents well using digital best practices.
The areas of critique include transparency, cybersecurity, and citizen engagement. The high ranking for Snohomish county comes as no surprise on the 18th annual analysis of counties across the country. Snohomish county has placed well in this survey several times before, according to a county press release.
Snohomish County's director of the Department of Information Technology has played a large role in helping this goal come to fruition. Viggo Forde has overhauled the digital solutions that the local government uses significantly and created a more user-friendly, approachable system that both employees and citizens can use to their benefit. As more and more capabilities become possible, it is certainly conceivable that more counties push for better placement in this survey to help better meet the needs of their community members and propel their county into the modern era.
