THE EVERGREEN STATE COLLEGE: New Evergreen Student Trustee Brings Wide-Angle View

Virtual

The Evergreen State College issued the following announcement.

Gov. Jay Inslee has appointed Melinda Bratsch-Horsager to serve as the newest student member of The Evergreen State College Board of Trustees. A voting member of the board, the student trustee represents the voice of their peers.

“I’m excited for this new role and to share the student perspective. My experience and involvement at Evergreen allow me to bring a wide-angle view of the college to the board,” said Bratsch-Horsager. “Evergreen believes that all voices should be heard and I’m ready to bring my voice to the table.”

Bratsch-Horsager graduated with both a BA and BS from Evergreen in June 2020. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in public administration with an emphasis in public policy and higher education. Over the past year, she served as speaker of the college’s Geoduck Student Union.

“Melinda is one of the most dedicated students I know,” said Evergreen President George Bridges. “She’s committed to excellence at Evergreen.”

Bratsch-Horsager said that receiving her official appointment in the mail from Governor Inslee, who appoints trustees at Washington’s public colleges, was one of the best days of her life.

"I feel incredibly honored and humbled to serve my community in this way,” she said.

Evergreen’s Board of Trustees is an eight-member governing board that provides the college with long-term strategic leadership.
