Snohomish County has announced six new positions to fill on the regional Law and Justice Council.
To form a more diverse and representative candidate pool, the county is asking residents to submit applications, especially if they feel they can adequately represent an underserved or underrepresented part of the community.
The Law and Justice Council was established by the county to serve as an advisory board to the county on matters of law enforcement and community relations with law enforcement. The council features representatives from each part of the community and justice system, including those representing law enforcement, public defenders, lawmakers, and residents.
The expansion of this council is part of the county's continuing effort to have a more representative and fair criminal justice system and ensure that the county can provide equal law enforcement to each part of the community. With an expanded council that includes new key positions, the country feels it will be in a good position to do so.
