A surge in COVID-19 cases and a slow roll-out of the vaccine has officials at the Snohomish Health District suggesting steps to bend the curve while still enjoying the holiday season.
Leave home only for essential tasks, Dr. Chris Spitters, health officer for the Snohomish Health District, said, KING 5 News reported.
The county's two-week case rate continued its rise, reaching 448 per 100,000 people through Dec. 12, the health district reported.
Data shows that most people who contract the coronavirus get it from people they know in the community at settings such as work, houses of worship and social gatherings, or at home, he said, KING 5 reported.
Other ways to limit the risks include wearing face coverings whenever you are around people outside of your households — even if they are —close friends and family, KING 5 reported. Skip traveling for the holidays. Keep holiday celebrations down to just household members or hold gatherings outside and stay at least six feet apart. Enjoy drive-thru light displays or other outdoor holiday activities.
